Air Fryer Onion Rings

Air Fryer Onion Rings

If you love onion rings and you don’t want to deep fry them, this is the recipe for you. They are light, crispy and delicious! Currently, my daughter is obsessed with onions, I know, random right? It started with grilled onions on her burgers and now she wants onions on everything! Of course, once she found out I was making onion rings, she was ready to eat all of them. Anytime I am eating onion rings I have to dip them in ketchup. The sweetness from the ketchup enhances the flavor of the onion rings. The sauce that goes with these onion rings are sweet and spicy, which is the perfect dipping sauce. Start by cutting one end of the onion and continuing cutting it until you have cut the entire onion.

Once the onion is cut, push the middle of the slices to create rings.

In a bowl, add 2 cups of whole milk and 1 beaten egg.

Add the onion rings to the milk mixture and soak them for at least 20 minutes.

In a separate bowl, add 2 cups of flour and season with 1 tbsp of cajun seasoning, 1 tsp of garlic powder and 1 tsp of paprika.

Add the onion rings to the seasoned flour. Make sure they are fully coated. If you want a thicker batter, repeat and dip in the egg batter and seasoned flour.

Add the onion rings to the air fryer. Make sure you spray the onion rings with canola oil.

Cook in the air fryer for 20 minutes at 370 degrees. If your air fryer has an “onion rings” setting, use it and it should be the same time. Half way during the cook time, flip the onion rings to make sure each side is getting cooked. Spray more canola oil to make sure each onion ring will be crispy.

While the onion rings are cooking, add 1 tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 tsp of ketchup, 1 tsp of sriracha and 1/2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce to a bowl. Mix well.

Once the onion rings are done, remove them from the air fryer.

Serve with the dipping sauce and ENJOY!
