Oven Baked Ribs

Oven Baked Ribs

I love a good slab of ribs cooked hours and hours on a grill but when I dont have time, the oven is just as good. I live in Texas and we are known for good bbq! I normally go for brisket, but ribs are runner-up. This recipe calls for spare ribs but you could also use baby back pork ribs instead. I start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. I have had it with both the membrane on and removing the membrane and I can say there is more flavor throughout the ribs with removing the membrane. Use a butter knife to get under the membrane and pull it off.

Once you have removed the membrane, rub the ribs with 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, 2 tbsp of mustard and 1 tbsp of liquid smoke. Season with 4 tbsp of your favorite dry rub, 2 tbsp of brown sugar and 1 tbsp of salt and rub all over the ribs until they are fully coated. I used Golden Steer’s “All Shook Up” dry rub.

Wrap the ribs in aluminum foil and add to a 350 degree oven and cook for 2 hours.

Remove from the oven and brush your favorite bbq sauce on top of the ribs.

Put the ribs back in the oven uncovered for another 30-45 minutes or until the ribs have a good crust on top.

Remove from the oven and add the ribs to a cutting board. Slice the ribs perpendicular against the bone. The meat will fall off of the bone!

Serve with your favorite side dishes for a complete meal. Serve and ENJOY!
