Red, White & Blue Deviled Eggs

Red, White & Blue Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs are a staple appetizer at any gathering. This year, I wanted to make them festive for the July 4th holiday. We are so use to dying eggs for Easter, so I thought, “maybe I can do the same for July 4th”. Thats exactly what I did! They turned out great!!! Not going to lie, I was a little nervous but it came together perfectly. Hard boil 8-12 eggs and this will make 16-24 deviled eggs. Cook 10-15 minutes or until the eggs are fully cooked.

Once the eggs are cooked, run cold water on them and start to peel the shells off of the eggs.

Cut each each down the middle. Remove the yolk and add it to a bowl.

Using a fork, mash the yolk into small pieces. To the yolk, add 1 tbsp of mayonnaise, 1 tbsp of mustard, 1 tbsp of sweet relish, salt & pepper (to taste), 1/4 tsp of paprika and cayenne pepper (as needed). Mix well. To thin out the mixture, add a splash of water and mix well again. Make sure to taste to make sure it is seasoned to your liking.

In two separate bowls, add 1 cup of hot water in each bowl, 1 tbsp of vinegar and 1 tsp of blue and red food color. Stir well. Add the egg whites to the dye and soak for 3-5 minutes or until they have reached your desired color.

Repeat until all of the egg whites are dyed.

To the dyed egg white, spoon the yolk mixture into the middle of each egg. Repeat until all of the yolk mixture is used.

Garnish with fresh dill. Serve and ENJOY!
