Truffle Smash Burgers

Truffle Smash Burgers

I am a HUGE fan of smash burger patties that are thin and fresh. Any time I think of a thick patty, it reminds me of a Mondo Burger from the 90s movie Good Burger LOL. Funny story……….the Burger Kings in Thailand had a Truffle Burger and I knew I had to try it!!! On Day 7 of my trip, I still hadn’t tried one, so I told my friends “we definitely have to get one at the airport.” So we are at the airport and I finally got the truffle burger. I go to cut the burger in half since we were splitting it and I literally dropped the entire burger on the floor!!!! It fell in slow motion LOL. We couldnt go back and get another one since our plane was boarding and didnt want to take the risk of missing our flight. Needless to say, I was upset!!!! When I got home, I knew I had to make a truffle burger. So thats exactly what I did and it was delicious! Season 1 lb of ground beef with 1 tbsp of onion powder, 1 tbsp of garlic powder, 1 tbsp of cajun seasoning and 2 tsp of truffle oil and mix well. If you want a more truffle flavor, feel free to add 1 more teaspoon.

Form the ground beef into small size balls (the size between a golf ball and a baseball) This should make 5 or 6 patties.

Using a mandolin, thin slice 1/2 of a white onion. You want the onions to be paper thin.

To make the sauce, add 1 tbsp of mayo, 1 tsp of mustard, 1 tsp of ketchup and 5-7 dashes of hot sauce to a bowl and whisk well.

Oil a griddle pan with the oil of your choice and once it is hot, add a few onion strips and a few mushroom slices.

Once the onions start to brown, place one ball of ground beef on top of the onions and mushrooms.

Place a piece of wax paper on top of the ground beef and smash the burgers as flat as possibly using a griddle press.

Once the patties are flat cook 1-2 minutes per side and make sure they are cooked to your liking. Once cooked, add 1 slice of white American cheese and stack the patties on top of each other.

Spread the sauce on your choice of buns and then place the patties on top of the bottom bun.

Serve with french fries and ENJOY!
